About this example
We wrote this example by hand to show what the generator is told to do and what it checks, as described in the resume guide. A real draft is written by an AI model from your own profile, so its wording will differ from this one, and from one run to the next. When the model is unavailable you get a profile-based resume instead, which the guide also describes.
Below is the text of the ATS resume (.docx). The human-readable PDF has the same content in the template you pick. Neither this example nor any draft predicts how an employer's hiring software will rank a resume.

What changed, and why
- The summary is rewritten for this job. It runs three sentences, leaves out "I", and uses only numbers already in the profile (31 to 9 stockouts, 2,400 SKUs).
- The strongest result for this job comes first. The posting leads with preventing stockouts, so the stockout bullet moves to the top of the current role, and each bullet opens with what it achieved.
- The posting's words appear where they are true. The profile already says "warehouse management system", so the resume adds the posting's "WMS" beside it. "Reorder points" and "count variances" were in the profile to begin with.
- Ongoing work reads in the present tense. Weekly cycle counts are still Alex's job, so "Ran" becomes "Run".
- Skills and certifications are reordered, not added. The same nine skills appear with their labels copied exactly, inventory skills first. The Excel certification moves ahead of the forklift one because the posting asks for advanced Excel.
- Facts are copied, not written. Name, contact details, job titles, employers, dates, education, and certification names come straight from the profile. The model only chooses their order where order can change.

What it left out
The posting asks for pivot tables, an ERP system, demand forecasting, SQL, and the APICS CPIM certification. Alex's profile lists none of them, so neither the resume nor the cover letter claims them. Nor does either one promise hybrid availability, which the profile does not state.
Code checks only the resume's structure. Every entry in the Skills section has to match a skill in the profile, and every job title, employer, and date has to match an experience entry. A draft that fails either check is not used. Nothing checks the free text. The summary, the bullets, and the whole cover letter could still mention a skill, tool, or number the profile does not hold. Keeping them to the profile is an instruction to the model, not a check, so read every draft before you send it. If you do have a skill a posting asks for, add it to your profile before you generate.

Application for Inventory Planning Analyst at Example Outfitters
Dear Hiring Team,
The Inventory Planning Analyst role at Example Outfitters is built around the part of my work I find most useful, which is keeping stock at the right level. At Lakeside Example Distributors, I cut quarterly stockouts on our top-selling items from 31 to 9 by adjusting reorder points with our purchasing manager. I have spent six years in warehouse and grocery supply work, and that result is the kind I want to keep delivering.
Your posting asks for someone who can watch stock levels, explain cycle count variances, and work with buyers and vendors. I run weekly cycle counts across a 120,000-square-foot warehouse and work through each variance with our receiving team. To catch low stock sooner, I built an Excel reorder report for 2,400 SKUs that flags every item below safety stock each morning.
Before that, as a purchasing assistant at Sample Street Grocers, I placed orders with 35 vendors and tracked each delivery against the date it was promised, and I answered store managers' questions when a shipment ran late. That means I have worked on both sides of a reorder, the count in the warehouse and the order with the vendor. I also hold the Microsoft Office Specialist: Excel Associate certification, and I studied business management at Example Valley Community College.
I would welcome the chance to walk you through the reorder report and to talk about how I could help Example Outfitters keep the right items in stock. Thank you for your time and for considering my application.
Sincerely,
Alex Sample
- The first sentence names the role and the company, and the opening leads with Alex's strongest result, with its numbers.
- The middle paragraphs answer three of the posting's responsibilities with experience from both roles instead of repeating the resume line by line.
- It runs about 250 words, within the 250 to 350 the model is asked for, and closes by asking for a conversation and thanking the reader.
- The letter is written from a shorter view of the profile: the three most recent roles with up to three highlights each, and the first 12 skills. Alex's fourth bullet, training new associates, is not among them, so the letter does not mention it.
