About these figures

Every live posting from every job board and career site we track, as of the date at the top of each page. A job posted on two boards counts twice. Figures refresh every six hours.

Pay, job type, and location figures cover US postings: postings in a state, the District of Columbia, or Puerto Rico, fully remote jobs open to US workers, and US postings that name several states. The employer ranking still counts every country.

A posting lists pay when it gives an hourly, monthly, or yearly pay figure or range in US dollars that works out to between $20,000 and $750,000 a year. We take the midpoint of a range. Daily or weekly rates and pay in another currency count as not listing pay. We read pay from each posting's job board data and from its text, and some postings we have not read in full yet count as not listing pay, so our share runs lower than the counts some job sites publish.

What employers publish in their postings, not what people are paid. It covers base pay only, from employers that list pay. The median is the middle posting, and the typical range runs from the 25th to the 75th percentile. Hourly pay counts 40 hours a week for 52 weeks. A figure needs at least 50 postings with pay from at least 10 employers, and a share needs at least 50 postings.

We place each posting in one of 29 job types from its title and text. Postings we could not place yet are counted in totals but not in rankings.

A posting counts toward a state when its location names that state, or a city found only in that state. Fully remote counts only remote work open to US workers. Several states covers US postings that name more than one state, or a city found in more than one.

Postings name their employer as free text, so we join names that refer to one employer before ranking: legal suffixes, store numbers, and internal codes are dropped, and a reviewed list of aliases joins names such as Wal-Mart Stores East, LP with Walmart. Postings that name no employer are left out.

A marked state had a law requiring pay ranges in job postings in effect on the date of the figures. Coverage differs by law, for example by employer size, so not every posting in a marked state is covered. This list was last reviewed September 27, 2026.
