Cover letters
AI cover letter generator, written from your resume and the posting
Choose a job from your shortlist, and BespokeJobs drafts a cover letter for it from your profile and the job posting. You get a Word file to edit, read, and send.
What goes into the letter
A cover letter from your resume and the job description needs two things. The generator reads a summary of each, not your whole resume or the whole posting.
- Your profile: your seniority, years of experience, top skills, licenses and certifications, education, and the titles, employers, and highlights of your three most recent roles.
- The posting: its title, company, location, key responsibilities, requirements, and skills.
What you get
The letter is written for that one role. It names the role and company in the first sentence, then connects two or three of your strongest experiences to what the job asks for instead of repeating your resume. It never claims a license, degree, or certification your profile does not list.
It aims for one page, about 250 to 350 words, and closes by asking for a conversation and thanking the reader. That follows the advice in the resume guide's cover letter section, which cites the MIT and Harvard career offices. The letter comes as a Word (.docx) file, so you can edit it in any word processor.
Review it before you send it
Those length and structure rules are instructions to the model, not guarantees. A letter can run long or get a detail wrong, so read it as the first draft it is.
- Check every fact against your own history, including employers, dates, and numbers.
- Add a specific reason you want this company, which only you can supply.
- Cut anything that sounds unlike you, and confirm the company and role names.
- If the model could not produce a usable letter, you get a short profile-based one that only names the role and sums up your background. Expand it before you send it.

Common questions
Is there a free AI cover letter generator without a credit card?
Job matching is always free. Everything else, including this, is free during beta, with no credit card required. If paid features are added later, their pricing and terms will be shown before you pay for anything.
How long is the letter?
The model is asked for one page, about 250 to 350 words. Harvard and MIT career offices both advise no more than a page. It is an instruction, not a guarantee, so check the length before you send it.
Will the letter just repeat my resume?
It is asked not to. The letter draws on two or three relevant parts of your experience and ties them to the role, which is the approach MIT's career office suggests.
Can I edit the letter?
Yes. It is a Word (.docx) file. You should read and edit it before you send it, and add your own reason for wanting the job.
