Resume guide
Resume examples by field, tailored to a job posting
Each example takes one fictional candidate's profile and one fictional job posting, then shows the tailored resume and cover letter, why each line changed, and what the posting asked for that the profile cannot support. They follow the rules in the resume guide.
Examples by field
| Field | Seniority | What tailoring changes |
|---|---|---|
| Registered nurse | Mid level | Puts the RN license first, names BLS and ACLS in the summary, and states the night shifts the profile shows. |
| Software engineer | Mid level | Leads with the latency result and answers "Go or another compiled language" with C#, without claiming Go or Kubernetes. |
| Data analyst | Entry level | Keeps the current retail job on top, as reverse chronological order requires, and leads it with its one data task. |
| Project manager | Senior | Names the PMP in the summary and leads each role with budget and schedule results, without claiming waterfall by name. |
| Sales representative | Mid level | Leads with quota attainment and outbound volume, and claims no deal size or travel the profile does not state. |
| Marketing manager | Mid level | Leads with email revenue and the paid search budget, and keeps "coordinate freelancers" instead of claiming direct reports. |
| Customer support specialist | Mid level | Pulls the CSAT score and handle time forward and states the Saturday schedule because the profile shows it. |
| Administrative assistant | Mid level | Leads with scope (four executives, 120 expense reports, a 250-person event) where the profile has few outcome numbers. |
| Warehouse associate | Entry level | Puts the forklift certification first and mentions past overnight work without promising the overnight shift. |
| Inventory analyst | Mid level | Leads with the stockout result the posting is built around and adds "WMS" beside the profile's own wording. |
| Electrician | Mid level | Leads a mostly residential history with its commercial work and names the journeyman license the posting requires. |
| Accountant | Mid level | Leads with the faster month-end close and implies no CPA eligibility the profile does not state. |
| Teacher | Mid level | Names the teaching license in the summary, ties reading gains to data-driven instruction, and keeps grades 6 and 7 exact. |
How to read them
Every person, employer, school, and posting in these examples is made up. We wrote each one by hand to follow the instructions the generator gives the AI model, so a real draft from your profile will be worded differently. None of them predicts how an employer's hiring software will rank a resume.
The lesson that carries across fields: tailoring reorders and rewords what your profile already holds, and leaves out what it does not. When a posting asks for something you have, add it to your profile before you generate.
