About this example
This example shows what the generator is told to do and what it checks, as described in the resume guide. A real draft is written by an AI model from your own profile, so its wording will differ from this one, and from one run to the next. When the model is unavailable you get a profile-based resume instead, which the guide also describes.
Below is the text of the ATS resume (.docx). The human-readable PDF has the same content in the template you pick. Neither this example nor any draft predicts how an employer's hiring software will rank a resume.

What changed, and why
- The PMP comes first and is named in the summary. The posting requires the PMP, so it moves ahead of the Certified ScrumMaster credential, and the summary spells it out with the abbreviation beside it. The 11 years come from the experience dates.
- Budget and schedule results lead. The migration bullet, with its schedule, budget, and percentage, moves to the top of the current role. The portfolio bullet that follows gives the budget range, which is above the posting's $1 million.
- Executives and vendors stay in the profile's words. The steering committee bullet already names the CIO, and the vendor bullet already names change requests, which is the posting's own phrase.
- Methods are shown through the work. The profile shows Scrum sprints and plans kept in Microsoft Project, so the summary mentions both. It does not use the word "waterfall", which the profile never uses.
- The client industries are kept exactly. "22 healthcare and insurance clients" is the closest the profile comes to healthcare, so it stays word for word, second in its role.
- An older result gets the XYZ shape. "Reduced average implementation time from nine months to six" was the last bullet in its role. It now leads, with the result, the measure, and how it was done.
- Facts are copied, not written. Name, contact details, job titles, employers, dates, education, and certification names come straight from the profile. The model only chooses their order where order can change.
Each requirement in the posting, and where the resume answers it:

What it left out
Casey's profile does not support these, so neither the resume nor the cover letter claims them:
- Waterfall by name. The profile never names a method beyond Scrum and Agile. Plans in Microsoft Project are as far as it goes.
- Healthcare industry experience as an employee. The profile shows healthcare clients, not work at a healthcare organization.
- Smartsheet. Not in the profile. The posting accepts Microsoft Project instead.
- Epic implementation, SAFe, and Lean Six Sigma. None of them is in the profile.
- Hybrid work. The profile does not say where Casey can work, so neither document promises it.
Code checks only the resume's structure. Every entry in the Skills section has to match a skill in the profile, and every job title, employer, and date has to match an experience entry. A draft that fails either check is not used. Nothing checks the free text. The summary, the bullets, and the whole cover letter could still mention a skill, tool, or number the profile does not hold. Keeping them to the profile is an instruction to the model, not a check, so read every draft before you send it. If you do have a skill a posting asks for, add it to your profile before you generate.

Application for Senior IT Project Manager at Example Health Partners
Dear Hiring Team,
The Senior IT Project Manager role at Example Health Partners asks for someone who can bring large technology projects in on time and on budget. At Example Regional Bank, I delivered our online banking platform migration two weeks ahead of its 14-month schedule and 6% under its $2.5 million budget. I hold the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and have 11 years of experience in project work.
Your posting asks for a project manager who owns budgets and keeps executives informed. I lead a portfolio of five to seven technology projects a year, with budgets from $400,000 to $2.5 million, and I run monthly steering committee meetings with our CIO and business unit leaders. Across that portfolio, I have managed budgets well above the $1 million your posting mentions. My skills cover budget, risk, and vendor management and stakeholder communication, which are the core of the role you describe.
Earlier, at Sample Software Partners, I managed software implementations for 22 healthcare and insurance clients. I ran two-week Scrum sprints for a team of eight developers and testers while keeping the overall plan in Microsoft Project and status in Jira, so I am used to moving between sprint delivery and a detailed schedule. I started there as a project coordinator, scheduling meetings and tracking action items for four project managers, and I also hold the Certified ScrumMaster credential.
I would welcome a conversation about the projects ahead for Example Health Partners and how I could help deliver them on schedule and on budget. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Casey Sample
- The first sentence names the role and the company, and the opening names the PMP because the posting requires it.
- The letter leaves out the vendor bullet and the implementation time result. Both are fourth or later in their roles, past the three highlights per role the letter sees.
- It says "healthcare and insurance clients", as the profile does, and does not claim work inside healthcare.
- It runs 259 words, within the 250 to 350 the model is asked for, and closes by asking for a conversation and thanking the reader.
- The letter is written from a shorter view of the profile: the three most recent roles with their first three highlights each, the first 12 skills, the certifications, and education without dates.
