About this example
This example shows what the generator is told to do and what it checks, as described in the resume guide. A real draft is written by an AI model from your own profile, so its wording will differ from this one, and from one run to the next. When the model is unavailable you get a profile-based resume instead, which the guide also describes.
Below is the text of the ATS resume (.docx). The human-readable PDF has the same content in the template you pick. Neither this example nor any draft predicts how an employer's hiring software will rank a resume.

What changed, and why
- Quota attainment comes first. The posting asks for a record against quota, and the profile has two years of it, so that bullet leads the current role and the summary repeats both numbers.
- B2B is spelled out where it is true. The profile says Riley sells to businesses, which is what B2B means, so the summary uses the posting's term and spells it out on first use.
- Outbound work moves up. The cold call bullet moves from fourth to third, and the summary closes with it. In the earlier job, the meetings result now leads and the 60 to 80 calls a day follow.
- Salesforce stays where the profile puts it. The pipeline bullet already names Salesforce, and Salesforce now leads the skills.
- First person comes out. "Book about 40% of my own first meetings" becomes "Book about 40% of first meetings", since a resume leaves out "I" and "my".
- Years come from the dates. Five years runs from the first sales job in July 2021 to now.
- Facts are copied, not written. Name, contact details, job titles, employers, dates, education, and certification names come straight from the profile. The model only chooses their order where order can change.

What it left out
Riley's profile does not support these, so neither the resume nor the cover letter claims them:
- Deals over $25,000 in annual contract value. The profile gives no deal sizes. Neither document guesses one from the size of the customers.
- Clear written and spoken communication. This is a quality, not a fact in the profile. The resume shows the calls, meetings, and communication degree instead of claiming the trait.
- Travel up to 20%. The profile says nothing about travel, so neither document promises it.
- Selling to healthcare practices, and Gong. Neither is in the profile.
- Hybrid work. The profile does not say where Riley can work.
Code checks only the resume's structure. Every entry in the Skills section has to match a skill in the profile, and every job title, employer, and date has to match an experience entry. A draft that fails either check is not used. Nothing checks the free text. The summary, the bullets, and the whole cover letter could still mention a skill, tool, or number the profile does not hold. Keeping them to the profile is an instruction to the model, not a check, so read every draft before you send it. If you do have a skill a posting asks for, add it to your profile before you generate.

Riley Example
Application for Account Executive, SMB at Example Scheduling Co.
Dear Hiring Team,
The Account Executive, SMB role at Example Scheduling Co. is close to the work I do every day, selling software to small businesses. At Example Payroll Software, I reached 112% of my annual quota in 2024 and 118% in 2025, selling payroll subscriptions to businesses with 10 to 200 employees by phone and video. I have five years of business-to-business software sales behind me.
Your posting asks for someone who can prospect at volume and keep a pipeline current in Salesforce. I manage about 60 open opportunities in Salesforce today. Before I carried a quota, I was a sales development representative at Sample Marketing Tools, where I made 60 to 80 calls a day to qualify inbound and outbound leads and set an average of 25 qualified meetings a month for three account executives, which is the kind of high-volume outbound work your posting describes.
That job taught me the habits I still rely on. I logged every call and email in HubSpot, so I know what a clean record of a deal looks like, and I came to like the first conversation with a business owner more than any other part of the sale. My skills include prospecting, cold calling, pipeline management, product demos, negotiation, and LinkedIn Sales Navigator. My background is in communication, with a Bachelor of Arts from Example State University.
I would like to talk about your SMB team's goals, the businesses you sell to, and how I could add to the team's numbers. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Riley Example
- The first sentence names the role and the company, and the opening leads with the quota numbers.
- The letter leaves out the 40% of self-booked meetings and the sales contest, which are fourth and fifth in the profile, past the three highlights per role the letter sees.
- The second paragraph has two lines the profile cannot back: the "habits I still rely on" and liking first conversations best. A model can write lines like these, so cut or keep them depending on whether they are true for you.
- It runs 255 words, within the 250 to 350 the model is asked for, and closes by asking for a conversation and thanking the reader.
- The letter is written from a shorter view of the profile: the three most recent roles with their first three highlights each, the first 12 skills, the certifications, and education without dates.

How this example was made: we wrote it by hand, following the instructions the generator gives the AI model and the checks it runs, rather than running the generator. A real draft from the same profile would word things differently.
